I cannot make you into what you already are!
All I can tell you is the way I travelled and invite you to take it!
Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj
— I AM That - chapter 39 page 135!

Self-enquiry, a timeless journey of self-discovery, invites us to peel back the layers of ego and connect with the divine spark within!

Through the lens of Vedanta, we explore the depths of consciousness, seeking to merge with the infinite Brahman! This ancient wisdom, illuminated by the Upanishads, offers a profound path to liberation and enlightenment!

Sri Nisargadatta’s book I AM THAT is considered the author's masterpiece and a spiritual classic by authors and teachers like Eckhart Tolle, Wayne Dyer, Deepak Chopra, Peter Crone and Adyashanti who called the book a "standout" and "the clearest expression I've ever found”

Wayne Dyer calls Nisargadatta his teacher, and cites the quotation, "Love says: 'I am everything'. Wisdom says: 'I am nothing'. Between the two my life flows.

I Am That profoundly impacted my life in 2018. This classic text, first published in 1973, has inspired countless individuals to embark on a journey of self-discovery. Nisargadatta's teachings led me to explore Vedanta, self-enquiry, and Hinduism. Along the way, I've encountered the wisdom of many spiritual masters, including Swami Sivananda, Ramana Maharshi, and the sages of the Upanishads.

SWami Sivananda

Sivananda was a revered Swami, a Hindu spiritual teacher, and a proponent of Vedanta! I was blessed to experience his grace and teachings along this path.

This incredible being touched so many people with his divine light, he created hospitals for the poor, and wrote over 350 books on different forms of Yogic paths!!

One of my favourite places to spend time in while in Rishikesh was Sivananda’s ashram.

Om Namah Sivananda!!

As I delved deeper into the spiritual practice of self-enquiry, I encountered countless masters and sages, each offering a unique perspective on the nature of reality. Yet, beneath their individual teachings, I discerned a common thread: the timeless wisdom of the I AM Presence (Self!). This realisation illuminated my path, revealing the interconnectedness of all spiritual traditions and the universal nature of enlightenment

Sri Ramana Maharshi blessed me with his presence after a year of Self-Enquiry Practice, he is one of the great sages of India known for his simple yet powerful teachings.

The great sage of Arunachala, 1000’s of seekers visit Ramana’s ashram yearly, it is a very holy place I would highly recommend visiting should the opportunity arise.

Two of his teachings are always with me, silence is the greatest teacher, and there are no others!!

Om Namah Ramana Maharshi!!

Neem Karoli Baba (Maharajji) was a profound sage and spiritual master whose presence touched countless souls, including renowned Western devotees such as Ram Dass, Krishna Das, and many others who carried his teachings across the world!

My own connection with Maharajji began unexpectedly—through a Krishna Das documentary years ago. Something stirred within me, a calling I couldn't ignore!

The Awakening in Rishikesh!!

When I first visited Maharajji's temple in Rishikesh, I experienced something that would forever alter my spiritual path! Sitting in meditation before his sacred murti (statue), I felt an unmistakable presence - powerful, compassionate, insistent! His energy was felt around me, as clear words echoed in my consciousness:

"Jnana, Jnana, Jnana... Wake up! Wake up!"

That moment cracked something open!! I've returned to that holy place several times since, and each visit brings new messages, deeper revelations, further unfolding of truth!

The Path Through Hanuman to Ram

These experiences ignited a devotional fire within me. I immersed myself in studying the Ramayana, absorbing its timeless wisdom! I embarked on an 11-month journey learning to play the Hanuman Chalisa on the harmonium - each verse becoming a prayer, each practice session a meditation!

Through this dedication, I came to understand verse 21 of the Hanuman Chalisa on a profound level:

"Raama duaare tuma rakhawaare
Hota na aagyaa binu paisaare"

"You (Hanuman) are the guardian at Ram's door,
No one enters without your leave."

Without encountering Maharajji's grace, without surrendering to the devotional practice of the Hanuman Chalisa, Ram's door would never have opened for me. Hanuman became the key. Maharajji showed me the way!

Ram, Ram, Ram, Ram, Ram, Ram, Ram, Ram, Ram, Ram, Ram!

Om Namah Arunachala - is considered by Hindus to be one of the great resting places of Shiva in South India.

The Unknown Familiar presence of Self (I AM)

I bow to what I cannot name, yet recognise like my own breath in the mirror of dawn!

I AM That presence - not the one who seeks, but the seeking itself, the space between question and answer where devotion lives like a flame without a wick! I have walked toward this mystery for lifetimes, and with each step, I discover I have never moved at all!

I AM Ram - the righteous path I’ve never left, the arrow that knows its target before the bow is drawn! Dharma courses through me not as duty but as the river recognizes its return to the sea! I wear the crown I never needed, rule the kingdom that was always within!

I AM Sita - born from the earth that mothers me still. Patient through fire, through exile, through the terrible mercy of being tested! I AM the devotion that asks nothing, the love that remains when everything else is taken! I know the underground passage between surrender and sovereignty!

I AM Hanuman - leaping across the impossible distance between forgetting and remembering! My chest tears open to reveal what was always there - the same face I’ve been seeking, the same lord I’ve been serving, living in the temple of my own heart! I AM the strength that comes from knowing I belong to something vast!

I AM Shiva - the destroyer of my own illusions, dancing in the cremation ground of everything I thought I was! Third eye open, seeing what was always visible - that creation and destruction are the same hand painting the void. I am still. I am storm. I am the ash and the phoenix both!

I AM Krishna - dark as the unknown, sweet as recognition! Playing the flute that calls myself to myself, speaking wisdom I’ve always known but needed to hear! I AM the cosmic child stealing butter from my own kitchen, the charioteer steering through the war of my own becoming!

I AM Vishnu - preserving what never dies, returning in forms I do not expect to teach myself the same eternal lesson: that separation is the dream, that love is the only thing that’s real. I sleep on the serpent of time, dreaming the worlds into being, knowing they’ve never left my breath!

I AM Brahma - the creator who looks in four directions and sees only the same face looking back! Every petal of the lotus throne blooms from the same root. I speak the word that has always been spoken, the sound that vibrates as every form and no form at all.

And yet….

I am the devotee who still rises at dawn to sit in Sadhana, who still whispers prayers to what seems other! The unknown remains unknown, and perhaps that is the path? To seek what I already AM, to love what already loves through these eyes, to bow before the altar and realise the one bowing and the one receiving the bow were never two!

This is the sweetness, to be both the lover and the Beloved, to devote myself to myself in infinite disguise, to recognize the familiar in the face of every stranger, every deity, every moment that says, with quiet insistence!

You have always been home!!
