What is Mantra?

Chanting is an ancient spiritual practice that uses rhythmic repetition of sacred words and phrases to deepen concentration, open the heart, and connect with the Divine!

What is Japa?

Japa means silently repeating God’s name in solitude! When you chant His name with single-minded devotion you can see God’s form and realize Him! Suppose there is a piece of timber sunk in the water of the Ganges and fastened with a chain to the bank. You proceed link by link, holding to the chain, and you dive into the water and follow the chain! Finally, you are able to reach the timber. In the same way, by repeating God’s name you become absorbed in Him and finally realize Him!

What to Expect:

Join us for an afternoon of sound and mantra chanting, a great form of spiritual nourishment! Whether you're experienced with mantra or completely new, all are welcome to experience the profound effects of sound as a meditative practice!

When vibration meets intention, transformation begins!

The chanting of devotional Mantra’s is a fascinating practice with a rich history and spiritual significance! It is the Mantra that does all the work! How powerful is a Mantra? Each Mantra is filled with countless divine potencies, which are unable to describe in words!

Sounds are vibrations! They give rise to definite forms. Each sound produces a form in the indivisible world, and combinations of sound create complicated shapes! Repetition of a Mantra has a mysterious power of bringing about the manifestation of the Divinity, just as the splitting of an atom manifests the tremendous forces latent in it! When a particular Mantra appropriated to a particular god is properly recited, the vibrations so set up create in the higher planes a special form which that god ensouls for the time being! - Swami Sivananda

Benefits of Japa Yoga:

  • Reduces Stress & Anxiety: The synergistic combination of deep breathing and sacred sound helps induce calmer brainwave states (like Alpha and Theta) and drops cortisol and anxiety levels!

  • Deepens Self-Awareness: Japa helps bridge the conscious and unconscious mind, gradually replacing negative, conditioned thought patterns with positive, spiritual ones!

Chanting is believed to create a direct link between the individual and the higher power, fostering a sense of devotion and surrender!

Mantra Power: Mantras are sacred sounds or syllables believed to have potent spiritual vibrations. Their repetition can purify the mind, reduce stress, and cultivate inner peace!

Group Chanting: Chanting in a group can amplify the energy and create a powerful collective experience!

In Varnamala, Sir John Woodroffe says: By worship and meditation or Japa of Mantras the mind is actually shaped into the form of the object of worship and is made pure for the time being through the purity of the object (namely Ishta Devata—the Chosen Deity), which is its content!

By continual practice (abhyasa) the mind becomes full of the object to the exclusion of all else, steady in its purity, and does not stray into impurity!

In my personal experience, chanting sacred mantras cultivates a profound inner transformation!

Each recitation of the mantra resonates deeply within the chanter, nurturing a nascent spiritual seed within the heart!

As the chanting continues, the vibrations of the mantra amplify, nourishing this seed and fostering invisible spiritual growth!

Eventually, a profound union occurs where the chanter and the mantra become one, culminating in the awakening of the inner Guru (Ishvara)

In my personal experience the practice of Self Enquiry (Vedanta), Mantra Yoga, Japa Yoga and Yoga Asana’s will lead the practitioner to Liberation (Moksha) it all starts with asking “Who AM I”
